| The retaining wall R-value consists of the R-value of the wall itself and the R-value of the ground behind the retaining wall.
If the retaining wall consists of a simple construction, i.e. a concrete or masonry block wall with no insulation or with a complete layer of insulations, for example a polystyrene sheet, the complete retaining wall R-value can be calculated with the calculator on this page. If the wall is more complex, i.e. timber framed with concrete backing or similar, you need to calculate the ground R-value here and the wall structure R-value on the Design-Navigator Floor, Wall and Roof R-value Calculator page. To get the complete retaining wall R-value you simply add the ground R-value and the wall structure R-value.
Note: The actual retaining wall R-values are quite complex to estimate. This calculator provides an approximate value only.
